Illegal immigrants are invisible. Many avoid paper trails in order to escape detection by authorities, often in hopes of providing a better life for themselves and their families. By doing so, they place themselves in greater danger of being targeted for a variety of crimes. Many are also afraid to serve as witnesses, instead making the heart-wrenching decision to carry on without justice in order to survive. For criminals this creates an ideal scenario – a victim whose fear of the government keeps them going to the authorities. In the most extreme cases, it can be deadly. Brandon McMullen and Kristen Swilley’s “Invisible Prey” follows the journey of illegal immigrants emerging from the shadows in search of justice.
